How You Can Help

We will be packing up our heartfelt Christmas Stockings November 18th at 6:00p.m. daily at the Totem Commercial Center located at 12700 NE 124th St, Suite #8 in Kirkland, WA. We will have an Operation Iraq-Afghanistan banner across the front of the building so that you can easily find us. Please make all efforts to car pool with others as we want to take full advantage of space available for parking and keep everyone safe. If you would like to volunteer to help pack, bring a few Christmas stockings and join us at 6:00pm. Email us to let us know how many are in your group.  Thank you!

Here are some ways you can support Operation Iraq-Afghanistan: The Spirit of Christmas:

  • Send an email to family and friends, letting them know this is your charity of choice for the Christmas season.
  • Volunteer to help fill Christmas Stockings.
  • Volunteer to write thank you notes on greeting cards included in the care packages.
  • Make a donation using PayPal by clicking the “Donate” button in the left-hand column.
  • Help procure merchandise (“wish list” items, holiday greeting cards, artwork by kids, etc.).
  • Donate beverages and/or snacks for the volunteer packers and work crews.
  • Add our link to your website (www.OperationIraq.org).
  • Distribute or display mini-posters in storefront windows, churches, clubs and organizations that you are involved with.
  • Contact your favorite radio or tv news station aware of our project and invite them to join in the fun!
  • Ask your church, club or favorite organization to get involved in collecting items needed for these special Christmas Stockings to bring the “Spirit of Christmas” to the families of our military here at home.

CHILDREN

OperationIraq.org encourages children to create a wonderful letter to the families that reflect their appreciation for our troops.  This is something that can be shared with their loved ones on the lines of Afghanistan, as well.   And we all know, this is the most cherished item, the troops have received over the years.  It is often carried with them their entire tour of duty.  We will begin collecting these letters of appreciation for the families and their loved ones from now until November 15th, 2011.  We are hopeful to have enough to include with our Christmas Cards as well.  It would be great for teachers in our region to step up and commit to a certain number of these pieces and deliver them prior to November 15th.  Please email us as soon as possible if you would like to include your classroom or organization in keeping this tradition ongoing and strong.

Business Owners

Dedicate a day to “Operation Iraq-Afghanistan” and donate a percentage of that day’s sales. Display an “Operation Iraq-Afghanistan” mini-poster at your place of business. Establish a “challenge grant” to match contributions from employees or patrons. We would also like to ask you to consider donating a gift card, services, or merchandise for our special military families this year. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, your donation is tax-deductible [Federal Tax ID Number is 51-0137442]. Check for drop off sites in your area.   It is our hope to create community partners and help your business grow too. All our donors are recognized on our website at www.operationiraq.org. The deadline for donating is Friday, November 15, 2011.
